High School - Music, Art and Drama

High School Music

Students develop an appreciation for both traditional musical cultures and styles, alongside contemporary genres. Self-expression and creativity are fostered through hands-on experiences such as instrument-making, lyric writing, improvisation, and musical composition.

Elements of Vedic culture introduce students to non-Western philosophies, sound theory, and artistic practices, broadening their cultural and musical perspectives. Students also build strong analytical and aural skills, supporting thoughtful listening and informed musical understanding.

The program prepares students to meet and exceed senior curriculum outcomes, while the syllabus embraces a diverse range of styles including art music, popular music, music of other cultures, and film and game music, ensuring the courses remain current, engaging, and culturally relevant.

High School Visual Arts

The High School Visual Arts program offers a blend of creative practice, critical inquiry, and historical understanding, opening pathways to careers in art, design, media, architecture, and education. By encouraging students to pursue their creativity, the program helps them adapt to a rapidly evolving world. The course begins in Stage 4 (Years 7–8), can optionally continue through Stage 5 (Years 9–10), and culminates in the Stage 6 Preliminary and HSC courses (Years 11–12). Students explore a wide variety of expressive forms, including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, fibre arts, and printmaking, inspired by both contemporary and traditional practices. In the HSC year, students’ critical and historical research culminates in a final exam, while their personally curated Body of Work is externally assessed
